The six squares marked in yellow were clued incorrectly in the puzzle; all of the across clues gave an H in that square instead of the correct letter (which you can deduce from the down clue that crosses at that location). Reading the indicated clues in order spells out ARVEST, which, because all Hs are missing, leads to the correct answer, HARVEST.
