Turning the books into the corresponding letters (Matthew=1=A, Mark=2=B, etc.), you get the clue phrase "Ten stringed item in Psalms." Then, because the readings came from the New American Standard edition of the cookie bible, you look in the New American Standard edition of the bible, and see that the ten-stringed instrument being referred to is a LUTE.
