We found a machine in a cave made by an ancient group of earthbenders. We know they had similar cultural traditions to ours: including writing left to right, using base 10, and using an isomorphic 26-letter alphabet (albeit a different system for writing it).

We believe the two sections of the machine can be figured out independently, but we haven't made progress on either section. Please help us determine how on earth this machine operates...
