Each puzzle is represented by a hybrid mythological creature. Each part of each creature corresponds to a shorter string of letters that is consistent across answers, as follows:
Puzzle | Answer | First Animal | Second Animals |
Anubis | VENMO | Jackal | Man |
Capricornus | BEEPER | Goat | Fish |
Gajamina | VIPER | Elephant | Fish |
Hippogriff | DESSERT | Eagle | Horse |
Meretseger | SHEBA | Snake | Woman |
Minotaur | CHEMO | Bull | Man |
Sphinx | BATON | Woman | Lion |
Unicorn | ALERT | Horn | Horse |
The full list of animal parts (including men/women as distinct) and their corresponding strings are as follows; the strings are concatenated to make the answers, so for example SHE (for snake) plus BA (for woman) becomes SHEBA (for Meretseger, the snake woman).
Animal | String |
Bull | CHE |
Eagle | DESS |
Elephant | VI |
Fish | PER |
Goat | BEE |
Horn | AL |
Horse | ERT |
Jackal | VEN |
Lion | TON |
Man | MO |
Snake | SHE |
Woman | BA |
Below the puzzles, there are four hybrid animals with three parts. They are a horn-bull-rabbit, a goat-cow-jackal, a giraffe-elephant-lion, and a snake-pig-eagle. For each animal, two parts are known from the puzzles, but one is a mystery; however, the total strings must be words. Those words are, respectively, alcheMY, beeTHOven, GRAviton, and shePHERdess, which reveals that rabbit is MY, cow is THO, giraffe is GRA, and pig is PHER. The final animal in the exhibit is a rabbit-cow-giraffe-pig, or a MYTHOGRAPHER, which is the answer to the puzzle.
