Each word is the first part of a "ZIP and ZAP" type phrase (except
the last section, which are second parts). Numbers, of course,
give the number of letters in the words you have to figure out (not in
order). Reading down first letters gives LAUREL, CRUEL, WILL,
CHER, which themselves change, and you read down first letters again
for HUGS, giving KISSES, the answer to the puzzle.
